As part of an initiative to promote creativity and digital storytelling, OpulentPeak conducted a hands-on video editing workshop at the Centro Lúdico das Lopas, in collaboration with Chão d’Oliva – Centro de Difusão Cultural. This intensive programme was designed to introduce participants of various ages to the fundamentals of audiovisual production using Adobe Premiere Pro. The workshop was very well received, not only for its dynamic and engaging approach but also for the quality of the final projects delivered by the participants. OpulentPeak would like to extend a special thank you to Chão d’Oliva for the invitation, trust, and opportunity to contribute to such an inspiring educational experience.
Workshop Structure
The workshop was structured to combine both theory and practice in a progressive and accessible format:
Lesson 1
Introduction to video editing, camera framing and continuity.
Participants were introduced to the basics of editing logic and visual storytelling. A demonstration of different editing tools was provided, with a focus on Adobe Premiere Pro.
Lesson 2
Capturing sound and image.
The group explored different types of cameras and microphones, learning practical techniques for effective image and audio recording, always with an emphasis on narrative cohesion.
Lesson 3
File management and first edits.
Participants learned how to import, organise and begin editing their footage in a linear sequence, maintaining continuity and flow in the story.
Lesson 4
Text, colour and audio adjustments.
This session focused on enhancing the footage with visual and audio effects, colour correction and titling to increase clarity and emotional impact.
Lesson 5
Final review and group presentation.
In the last session, the students finalised and exported their videos, which were then presented in a special screening at the venue’s auditorium. Constructive feedback was shared, and the participants reflected on the entire creative process.
Let’s keep in touch.
